New beginnings and exciting times...

No Longer Toddlers

So this is a little later than planned, ok it's an entire summer later than planned! Turns out 3 children plus six weeks school holidays can be a tad time consuming. Becoming a parent has been nothing like I imagined, it has involved a lot more tears for a starter - I knew the baby would cry but I didn't realise I would too. I found the Toddler days hard and there was a definite feeling of never ending hanging over me. So it's fair to say I'm really enjoying the stages that we are at now. There's activities which are actual fun, not just watching my children have fun but actual good, honest, old fashioned fun. There's Roller Coasters, Death Slides, Walks where you actually get somewhere and holidays where the children sleep late (THE Holy Grail of parenting in my eyes). What I'm trying to say is if you are having one of those days where it feels never ending and never being able to go to the loo on your own is wearing thin, hang in there it gets better, so much better - I wish someone had told me. Plus we've hit the stage where the threat of mum dancing in front of their friends is so great I can get them to eat almost anything #power How about you, did you have a good summer? I'd love to hear what you got up to xxx

Such a lovely way to celebrate a little boy's first birthday, a Quilt made from clothes he wore throughout his first year.
I had such a great time making this Keepsake Quilt. The Cotbed Size Quilt continues to be the most popular size of quilt and is always fun to make. The Quilts take longer than the animal Keepakes as there is quite a lot more work involved in them but I love how much they become part of my daily life. The colours of this gorgeous Quilt were such fun to work with and took on their own design really quickly.
Christmas presents are starting to be thought of (I know, where did Sumner go?!?!?!). Grand parents can be tricky to buy for. This was a lovely set I made last year using the scrumptious Charlie's first clothes. His clever mum picked outfits that were related to each Grandparent and this rather fabulous Gang of Keepsakes was given out on Christmas day.

While it felt like the Summer sun was hiding from me this year i had lots of sunshine inside the Sewing Room. This cheery Lion was a dream to work with on a grey day. I love the Little Bird Collection by Jools Oliver for Mothercare so it was great to work with some of her clothes. This was another special gift, it was from a little girl to give to her Daddy on his special birthday.

My Keepsakes

The big news in our house has been that the littlest Keepsake turned 4 (which she reliably informs me means that she is now all 'growddy uppy'! Turning 4 is such a magical time, I remember my boys being the same. After a day full of presents, party dresses, friends, cake and general hysteria she went to bed and declared that birthdays are the best, being 4 is awesome and then promptly fell fast asleep smiling. There are so many moments where I doubt myself as a mum so I took this one to be the success it was and tried to savour it and hold on to it for as long as possible.

A week after becoming 'all growddy uppy' she started school. It was a real mixture of emotions. there were tears (mainly me) combined with a real sense of freedom (again, think that was mainly me). There was definite excitement and new beginnings in the air. Her brothers were so excited to have her in the same school and I'm pleased to say she has settled well. Although, after 3 days she decided school had been fun, she'd ticked that box but was just going to stay home at watch Peppa Pig from now on - if only life could be that simple.

And Finally...

In other news I've gone pinning crazy and joined Pinterest. I am thoroughly enjoying spending/loosing hours gazing at beautiful nurseries, baby clothes I would love to work with and patterns that make me swoon. Pop over and give me a follow if you are on Pinterest (the link is at the bottom) and do let me know what you think. Do you have any pinning tips, are there any amazing pinners I should be following? Do you have any ideas for Boards that you would like to see me set up? All tips gratefully received xxxx
